Hi there,

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. You can definitely add more masalas. Rajma is one dish that gets better with a more complex gravy. I just try to keep my recipes to the basic ones so people can make them easily. To make really awesome rajma, I also like to add some cinnamon and bay leaf (I like to experiment with some of individual spices that make up garam masala--cardamom, cloves...). I also did some digging about nutrition in the pressure cooker. While this isn't definitive...I did find one site that said all cooking methods cause nutrient loss, and pressure cookers don't cause more than the others. They also have a net nutritional benefit since the protein, fiber, and starch become more digestible, and certain minerals become more available. http://bit.ly/HrwKrv Thanks again for stopping by and hope you get to try some more of my recipes!

This recipe is fantastic when it is properly cooked with slow cooker. If it is cooked in pressure cooker, it loses the nutritional value because of fast cooking by pressure inside the Cooker.

I think that this recipe tastes better when some Garam Masala is added with it. Correct?

Hi Mr. EZ! I love how we're both so EZ-going. Doing better. Boy...the day care bugs are really potent! Let me know how it turns out. I'll be posting a pressure cooker version that I personally like better. But this slow cooker one is super easy. And I just shot a quick okra fry that should go up tomorrow! Love your videos!!!! Glad to see everyone else does too!!!

Hi Pallavi! How RU? I hope you are feeling better! I have to tell you that I LOVE red beans and rice but when I make it I make it the Southern way with bacon fat! Now I have recently been using lots of Indian spices in my cooking and I have to say that the Indian version of red beans and rice has got to be the healthiest and tastiest version I have seen. I am making a slow cooker recipe this week for someone by request but I think next week I am going to make your red beans and rice for lunch to take to work! It looks DELICIOUS!

Hi Fran,

I plan to follow up soon with a pressure cooker recipe. As I point out in my video--I think it comes out better. The secret to the pressure cooker recipe, is that you saute the spices, onions, tomatoes, garlic, chilies, and spices to create this amazing sauce. You then simmer it with pressure cooked beans. Stay tuned--that recipe will knock your socks off ;-)

Hey there--sorry to hear you and yours have been so ill and glad to hear you are turning around. What about a pressure cooker version for those of us who tilt away from the status quo (i.e., we have a pressure cooker but no crockpot!) ? xox
